Hanee as an app

Hanee is not on Google Play or the App Store yet. You can install it straight from your browser as a so-called PWA, though. It then gets its own icon on your home screen, opens in its own window without the address bar, and works exactly like an app from a store.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Hanee in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen and confirm with Add.

On recent iOS versions it works the same way from Chrome.

Android

  1. Open Hanee in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
  3. Choose Add to Home screen or Install app and confirm.

Computer

  1. Open Hanee in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Click the install icon at the right end of the address bar, or find it in the browser menu.
  3. Confirm with Install.

Firefox on desktop does not usually offer installing web apps; use Chrome or Edge.

After installing, sign in just like on the web. Hanee remembers you, so you only do it once.

Family invitations

Family members do not need their own account with an email and password. They get into the family, and onto every further device, through an invitation: a link someone from the family sends them. Only members without restricted access can send invitations.

Invite a new member

  1. In the app, open Shared settings.
  2. Under Group member management, expand Invite a new member.
  3. Optionally fill in the names of the people you invite; they are only there to help you keep track. Then click Generate links.
  4. Copy the links and send them to the people you invite, for example in a message or the family chat.

After opening the link, the invited person fills in their name, which creates their own profile in the family. Create one link per person.

Sign in an existing member on another device

  1. In the app, open Shared settings.
  2. Under Group member management, expand Sign in an existing member.
  3. Choose who the link is for and click Create link.
  4. Send the link only to the person it belongs to. They open it on the device they want to sign in on.

No new profile is created; the member gets into their own profile with their lists, tasks and birthdays. Members with their own account are not offered here; they sign in with their email and password.

Each link is valid for 48 hours and expires after its first use. Whoever opens it gets into the family, so never share it publicly.
